Hello everyone, I’m Jamie Audsley. I’m a licensed marriage and family therapist, an Army veteran, and a single mother.

I understand how hard it can be to get the services you need, to know where to go for what, and to navigate systems that can feel overwhelming. As a therapist, I also see all the time how difficult it can be for people to actually access mental health care.

Sometimes it isn’t because services aren’t available. It’s because there are so many barriers to actually getting those services.

Maybe someone doesn’t have insurance. Maybe they have insurance but can’t afford the deductible or copay. Maybe they don’t have transportation or childcare. Maybe they’ve called five different places, been transferred three times, left messages, and still have no idea who can actually help.

When someone is already struggling with their mental health, we somehow expect them to have the energy to navigate all of that.

That just doesn’t make sense to me.

That’s really where No Barriers Project came from.

I wanted to create something that looks at the whole picture. Yes, we want to make mental health care more affordable and accessible, but we also want to look at what else is keeping someone from getting that care.

Is it transportation? Is it childcare while a parent is in a therapy session? Do they need help figuring out what resources are available? Do they simply need someone to sit down beside them and help make those phone calls?

Those are the kinds of barriers we want to help remove.

We’re Building From the Ground Up

At this point, we aren’t there yet.

We are building No Barriers Project from the ground up. Right now, we’re applying for grants, reaching out to businesses and other nonprofits, building relationships, putting together resources, and trying to build the support necessary to make this vision a reality.

And this is a long-term vision. It is BIG.

Eventually, I want someone to be able to come to No Barriers Project and know that we’re going to help them figure out what they need and how to get there.

I want families, veterans, and others in our community to be able to get the support they need even when money, insurance, or other circumstances would normally keep them from doing that.

Our long-term vision includes a campus with outdoor spaces, gardens, walking trails, areas for children and families, and opportunities to incorporate nature into healing.

That isn’t going to happen tomorrow. We have a lot of work ahead of us.

But we have to start somewhere.

This is us starting.

I hope you’ll follow along as we build No Barriers Project. Follow our journey on social media, share what we’re doing, and help us spread the word. You never know who a post might reach or who might be able to help bring this vision to life.
